4 Ways To Wear Tailoring This Spring/Summer
(via Nordstrom.com)
The onset of Summer means a full season of events. Whether it’s watching one of your best friends getting married or checking out a Braves game at the new stadium, chances are there’s at least one occasion which you’re already considering on what the heck you’re going to wear! The wrong tailoring can be stuffy or impractical, but mandatory dress codes mean there’s no other option but to suit up! Here are four easy ways to jolt your summer tailoring to life and ensure you’re the best-dressed guest at any event!
MISMATCH YOUR SUIT
Because tailoring has moved in a more laid-back direction in recent seasons, many brands and designers offer the flexibility of buying their suits as separates. Combining different jackets and pants are a subtle way of adding confidence to a look with minimal effort–something we all strive for. Try navy with black for an understated finish. Of if you’re trying to stand out, wear a checked jacket with a plain tailored pant.
TAILORED COATS
Summer is no guarantee of good weather. A smart, lightweight coat makes a great alternative to suiting for a casual occasion. It also sits effortlessly over a well-cut t-shirt and straight-leg trouser. Go for a strong-shouldered shape that hits above or around the knee area to keep your look on point, rain or shine!
COLLARLESS
Our favorite piece of advice: a simple white t shirt goes with everything, everywhere. One of the easiest ways to freshen up old tailoring is to lose a stiff collar. Try swapping your button down shirt for a grandad collar shirt instead. This modern essential rarely looks out of place, especially when layered under a blazer or tucked into a pair of smart pants!
FEARLESS OF COLOR
Step outside of the monotony, typical colored suit by adding a hint of spice into your smart-casual arsenal. Green, rich burgundy and earthy camel shades will help pursue life in any tailoring line-up. Better yet, all of these colours will combine perfectly with the neutral pieces you already own!
